I came across this and had to do a double take. A Fulbright scholar from Canada (they really miss hockey) has developed a car that is driven by a roach. He decided to try and use the behavior of a roach to help with the navigation issues inherent with robots. To prove this out, he built the roach a car. And not just any roach, but a Madagascar hissing cockroach.
As odd as this is, it is pretty cool that this roach can actually drive this around. However, he might be spending too much time with the roaches given the fact that he believes some of them like to run into walls. The next thing you know he’ll start giving them vanity plates
I wonder if the cockroach feels any guilt when bugs hit the windshield?
