Thanks Yahoo for this one: Movie Disasters - Historic Box Office Bombs
by: Stuart

I was aware of most of these huge disasters but not the cost to produce compared to earnings.

The biggest shocker for me was the cost of Pluto Nash:

(2002)
Budget: $100 million, US Box Office: $4.4 million
In terms of sheer numbers, this flick is one of the biggest box-office flops in cinema history. was apparently so embarrassed by the end result that he refused to do any publicity for the movie.

I will stand up for (1988) Budget: $47 million, US Box Office: $8 million. I really liked the movie and am a fan of Terry Gilliam.

Besides that, I think it’s a pretty .

More Bigfoot News - From Yahoo Buzz
by: Stuart

UPDATE:

“Bigfoot” fails DNA test

One of the two samples of DNA said to prove the existence of the Bigfoot came from a human and the other was 96 percent from an opossum, according to Curt Nelson, a scientist at the University of Minnesota who performed the DNA analysis.

Bigfoot creatures are said to live in the forests of the U.S. Pacific Northwest. An opossum is a marsupial about the size of a house cat.

Results of the DNA tests were revealed in an e-mail from Nelson and distributed at the Palo Alto, California, news conference held by Tom Biscardi, host of a weekly online radio show about the Bigfoot.

The news finally made it’s way into . Here is a segment of what they reported about:

Researchers presented evidence today of a large, shaggy (and dead) creature they claim is . Two of the men say they found the mysterious beast in the north Georgia woods and stashed it in a freezer. Though the bold duo had claimed they would present DNA evidence, photographs, and video to prove they did indeed nab the big guy, early reports say the hunters “didn’t reveal much.”

Skepticism aside, it’s been awhile since we’ve seen a story ignite on the Web like this one. Searches for “” rose more than 6,000% over the last two days alone. Interest in “” soared 1,630%, landing the query at the top of our fastest movers. Searchers with a more suspicious bend propelled queries for “” (+2,589%) and “” (+2,853%) skyward. And that’s just the beginning.

I’m still hoping for a Bigfoot body but I really don’t think it’s gonna happen. If this is a hoax, it will backfire on these guys. It’s not a smart move to get everyone excited and let them down over a prolonged period of time.

Yahoo’s launch of Shine, their new baby for the female community
by: Sarah

Shine.Yahoo.com

Yahoo has launched their new site to a more targeted audience. Yahoo hopes to appeal to the approximately 40 million women ages 25 to 54 that use Yahoo monthly.

Yahoo thinks their categories will appeal to the masses, but when they touch on everything of course they don’t leave much room for anything else.

They cover , for those who wish to remove the zits and the cellulite in one miracle cream. I hate to break it to your fat lazy ass, but eating bon-bons while you smoke a pack of Camel Lights does not help your cellulite issue. Get off your butt and do some work, jog or use the ellipticals you bought last year when you were hopeful, it doesn’t matter, working out is good for you, do it.

, because most people consult the internet before they ask a doctor what is right. is another one of their categories since everyone needs to pry into the celebrities lives. goes along side the doctor thing, people would rather than ask their mother or mother-in-law. is a huge target group, women in general are either sad, happy, happy in love, in a bad relationship, having sex, loving sex, hating their sex lives and want better ones… so either way you turn, Love and Sex is the way to go. , for those who want to make a quick buck, save their cash for that Bermuda trip or just hate their job. and are a couple of goodies, I always like new recipes and ways to organize better, even if I don’t. is bogus, but people believe that and love it. Ah yes, , one category that will actually be interesting. Speak Up is their community section, where people can voice their opinion, much like I do here.

Captain Kidd’s pirate ship found off the coast of the Dominican Republic
by: Sarah

william kidd

Shipwrecked since the 17th century, Captain Kidd’s abandoned pirate ship has been found by divers off the coast of the Dominican Republic.

Now when I say off the coast, I literally mean 70 feet off the Catalina Island in less than 10 feet of seawater. The wreckage has been heavily sought by treasure hunters for years, it is a wonder that it has not been discovered before.

Indiana University has an underwater archaeology team working on the preservation of the remains of Quedagh Merchant. Charles Beeker of Indiana University and his licensed team have been studying the wreckage and attempting to “convert the site into an underwater preserve for the public.”

“I’ve been on literally thousands of shipwrecks in my career,” Beeker said. “This is one of the first sites I’ve been on where I haven’t seen any looting. We’ve got a shipwreck in crystal clear, pristine water that’s amazingly untouched. We want to keep it that way, so we made the announcement now to ensure the site’s protection from looters.”

The find is valuable because of what it could reveal about William Kidd and piracy in the Caribbean, said John Foster, California’s state underwater archaeologist, who is participating in the research.

Historians differ on whether Kidd was actually a pirate or a privateer — a ship or captain paid by a government to battle the enemy. After his conviction of piracy and murder charges in a sensational London trial, he was left to hang over the River Thames for two years.
