Southwest Airlines | Non-stop flight advert
by: Sarah

Need non-stop flights?  Southwest advertises that idea with this clever elevator commercial.  The tiny Asian woman blocking a bigger guy from pushing a button on the elevator, funny.

Check out non-stop flights with Southwest.

What do you mean it’s smart? The commercial is so stupid. When I first saw it I didn’t understand it at all, and all I got was that it was an insult to the Asians. How can you say that’s smart? Southwest is so stupid.

  2. Wow, talk about old, this is like dredging up Kyla Ebbert, oh yeah… that happens a lot. Either way, I hardly see this as an insult, put any other petite woman in her place, white, black, hispanic… who cares. Not insulting. kthx

I also found this insulting both to the Asian woman and the white man. This compounds the stereotype of the passive aggressive Asian woman. It also compounds the stereotype of the inept middleaged white man.

I only fly SW occasionally, when SW and Alaska are the only options. SW has a better cancellation record. If anything, this ad will nudge me give the numbers a new look and see if Alaska has come up to par over the last 18 months or so.

It’s really sad when the culture perceives agressive rudeness as funny. It doesn’t matter what race or gender is involved. The behavior is simply obnoxious. Apparently SW airlines is clueless. Too bad!
