The Citi Id Theft commercials make me smile everytime I see them. The wrong voice on the wrong body is strangely humorous.

You may have figured out that I’m a Discovery Channel addict. I love some of the shows and they have a new one that is pretty cool. It’s called FutureWeapons. Watch this clip for a gun that can shoot around corners.
This is not a political site nor am I going to talk about war and so on. Plenty of other places to do that.
What I will say is that some of the weapons on this show such innovation and inventiveness. They are some of the best funded military thinkers from around the world that build this stuff so it should be.

You can never get enough of chimps doing bad or silly things. This is a security chimp (like the trunk monkey) bashing out all the badness that get you online. I do like the ad and it hits the key points they are trying make, Comcast is trying hard to protect its users.
Since my move to Seattle, I switched from Time Warner to Comcast and it really has been a good change. I now have digital/HDTV, digital phone and obviously internet. I have had zero problems and the connection is reliable and fast. Pretty cool.

If you can’t find your keys, you should still have your index finger. I love this biometric fingerprint technology. I worked in a techlab a long time ago and we had a fingerprint reader access door that never worked because of the weather…I’m sure things have improved since then.
Here is the product description from the site:
The keyless biometric fingerprint door lock FSLA93 has a tubular latch providing easy installation with no need to modify most existing doors. Fingerprint enrollment is quick and easy. Up to 138 users can be enrolled directly on the lock. Your finger is the only key you ever need for this lock. It is designed for unsurpassed security and convenience. It offers automatic locking, never leave your door unlocked again. It includes solid construction with the PCB sealed to prevent moisture, corrosion and loosening. This lockset is one of the most advanced security systems you’ll ever install in your home or business
Found on I4U. Great site for new and fun toys.

I have been reading about Windows Vista for a while and love some of the new features. Here is a new story on Yahoo.
More on Vista coming soon.

The XCP program, developed by First4Internet in Britain and used on music CDs by Sony BMG to restrict copying and sharing, has generated concern amongst computer users, because it acts like virus software and hides deep inside a computer where it leaves the backdoor open for other viruses.
While Sony still insists that it’s DRM rootkit affects neither system stability nor security, a class-action lawsuit has been filed in California, and a virus has been discovered which hides itself using Sony’s rootkit. The virus was inevitable, but I’m surprised that there will actually be a lawsuit. Whether or not it will ever see court, who knows.

By now you have heard about the cruise ship that was able to get away from a group of pirates in small boats that tried to board her. What you may not have heard is that besides changing course and accelerating away, the cruise ship had a little surprise for the pirates, a LRAD that focuses ear splitting noise at a specific target. Normally I would be a little leary of arming cruise ships, something about the Carnival Cruise Line led by Kathy Lee Gifford trying to seize small islands in the Carribean, but this is a great idea. It is non-lethal but obviously highly effective.
One of the companies that produces these, American Technology Corporation, also produces other items for commercial use. I have actually looked into using their HSS technology and was pretty impressed.
I can only imagine what went through the pirates minds when they started hearing the shrill high-pitched sound. Something tells me, Blackbeard they weren’t.

too inconvenient for customers. While I can see that getting the fob might be a hassle, once customers have them it is only a matter of typing another number for greatly increased security.
Between typing an extra number every time you login, and spending months trying to recover your nest egg after it was transferred to Nigeria, which inconvenience would you choose?
