Dewmocracy Tug-of-War
by: Sarah

Which Dew do you do?  Personally I’m all for the original flavor, in diet of course, but I suppose these new flavors might be worth a shot.  The vote is down to Supernova, Voltage and Revolution so get your vote on, you have until July 31st!

Juicy black watermelon sold for $6,000
by: Sarah

$6,000 Densuke Watermelon

One over priced watermelon was bought by a marine products dealers in Japan for $6,125 Friday.  The black Densuke watermelon, grown only on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido, was one of a few thousand available each year.

Evidently these watermelons are pretty good because three years ago some other crazy person threw down $3,000 for one.

What would you do with $6,000?  Spend it on the sky rocketing gas prices?

Chinese entreprenuer spent a half a million on wine
by: Sarah

Romanee Conti
Bottle of Romanee Conti

How much would you pay for wine? A Chinese entrepreneur purchased a mix of vintage wines for $500,000, his previous large purchase was only $59,880. The mix of vintages of Romanee Conti, is considered to be among the world’s most exclusive wines with only 450 cases made each year. The Beijing-based billionaire purchased “12 bottles of Romanee Conti 1978, two bottles of the 1961, 1966, 1996 and 2003 and single bottles of the 1981, 1990, 1992, 1995, 1999, 2001 and 2002.”

Interesting record making tid-bit:

Malcolm Forbes, the late publisher of Forbes’ magazine, set a record in December 1985 when he paid 105,000 pounds, then about $162,750, for a 1787 bottle of red wine made by Bordeaux’s prestigious Chateau Lafitte.

In 2006 the Antique Wine Company sold the world’s most expensive bottle of white wine, a regular-sized bottle of Chateau d’Yquem 1787 for just under $100,000.

Skittles Piñata Commercial
by: Sarah

I have been seeing this creepy Skittles piñata commercial for quite some time and hadn’t tried them until today.

My friend and I went out and bought the new Skittles Chocolate Mix.  Her response to the flavor was, “I probably would not make a point to go out and buy them, but as a first tester they aren’t that bad, it’s candy, candy… candy.”

But I cannot agree, the little chocolately candies were a great disappointment.  I like that Skittles is trying to tackle other tastes, but these ones are bad.  The overall flavor lingers in your mouth to leave a bad taste.

The Baby Cake, creepily delicious?
by: Sarah

I was reading over on Transbuddha, a sister site of ours, and I ran across this video he posted today.  This is possibly the creepiest cake I have ever seen [please, prove me wrong].

This is a cool idea, but super creepy.  I was surprised at the detail of the entire cake being sculpted to look a baby.  Naturally I linked a few people in the process and we all agreed that it would be nasty, except one.  He suggested using a cherry filling in the center so when you cut in it gushes out.  That was all in good fun though.

I do love strange art, but this one was a bit too odd for my taste.

Burger King - $1 Whopper Jr. and Spicy Chicken Crisp commercial
by: Sarah

Burger King’s commercials are always interesting and entertaining. Think back to the BK Whopper Freak Out commercial, that was ingenious and hilarious. Burger King is good at attacking competitors, which oddly enough makes them advertising for both products. Granted BK’s commercials are going to be in favor of BK, but those who hate BK and love McDonald’s will hit up the fast food joint next to their house.

This commercial rocks because it looks like a couple of normal boys did this just for fun and sent it to BK. Love the flow shots to make it look crappy too. BURGERS ON THE RUN!

“Once you go flame-broiled beef, you never go back!”

143 million pounds of beef recalled and the shocking video
by: Sarah

143 million pounds of beef has been recalled, here is a video showing the reason behind the massive recall.

I’m surprised this is video is the reason for the largest beef recall, not because I think these cows who are too unhealthy to walk should be consumed, but Peta has made videos like this before.

I’ve been to concerts where Peta booths have been set up, I stood there for a bit taking in the horrifying pictures and videos they had on loop.  I still eat meat, I just think that we do not take care of the animals we have on our planet, especially the ones we are about to digest.

Now, I lived on a farm as a child, so I know a bit about slaughter.  We always took our animals to the same place, which was the best butcher we could ever ask for.  Either way, no abuse and we had good healthy meat.

The use of forklifts and chains to drag cows is unnecessary, but watch them do it.

The league of the future is here! I don’t know much about the Double Stuf Racing League, but their interactive site reminded me of The Suns Virtual Locker Room, just less complex.

Click on the image to get to tinker around on their interactive site, be sure to read the news ticker at the top, few funnies there. In the mean while, watch their advert with Peyton and Eli Manning. DSRL IS HERE!

Tavern serves hottest wings ever starting Thursday
by: Sarah

hot wingsDo you have a craving for something spicy but can’t ever feed that hunger?A Chicago tavern is beginning to serve the hottest wings,  the sauce having the Red Savina pepper making it super spicy.

The wings will be announced with a bell to allow the waiters to prepare if things get out of hand.  The waiters and waitresses are standing by with sour cream, milk, sugar and white bread.

For those wishing to try Jake Melnick’s Corner Tap’s special Red Savina wings they must first sign a waiver saying that they will not sue for injuries.

Levy Restaurants, which owns the tavern, said its chef d’Cuisine Robin Rosenberg had been working on the concept for years but was never sure he’d be able to serve it.

“This isn’t the right sauce for everyone, but for someone out there, this is going to be absolute heaven. Of course, for a handful of people, it’s going to be hell,” he said
